I do have a much better group of kiddos to work with this year and I am enjoying it...but not totally loving it.
Chad just got a promotion at the Nebraska Medical Center as a Project Leader for the Facilities and Planning Department.

Alex is growing so much and KNOWS so much. He is starting to out smart us and the little things we used to do to change the topic or to get him to avoid something...doesn't work with him any more.

The little dude is just growing up so much. Alex has not had a wet pull up for five straight days...Yeah!
Even as an educator I can't believe that he knows his ABC's (although he may not pronounce them the best yet!), knows most of the basic colors, shapes, and has a memory like I have never seen before! He recognizes who's parents are who at school and he even knows the cars they drive! Unbelievable!

Here is a little update on us and a couple of pictures to make you laugh...enjoy and Happy Fall!

Alex running around "nake" and decided to help Dad hang the new curtain rod.
Cooking with Mom this summer!
Chad & Alex enjoying life camping with Uncle Brian, Aunt Tiff and Papa.
Just watering the lawn like everyone else does...naked!
Have no fear...he knows how to pee on a tree and he's not afraid to do it.

Alex before he lost his pants...helping Nana water the lawn and play with rocks. We went to Mullen to see my parents in August. There is nothing like a mom who gets to stay home with her child...even if it is just for the summer!! Here is a snap shot of a couple of the things we did this summer - when we had a camera.

We had friends over! Caleb and Adrienne came over to play a couple of times. I made chocolate chip teddy bear pancakes...they were lovin' life!
Here they are all squeezed into one of the cubbies in our toy chest.

Chad helping the kiddos build a track for Thomas and his friends. The look on Adrienne's face says it all, "You boys are obsessed!"

1st CARNIVAL!!! Anyway, ANG loves Runza (which they don't have in WI) and so she picked up some chicken strips on the way to our house. As she was eating them, Alex decided she needed some help eating the french fries and since ANG was dipping her chicken he needed to walk over and dip his fries. Well as you can see from the picture...the honey mustard spilt right on his head and Alex was not to trilled about it - but took it like a champ. ANG and I were laughing and crying so hard, I am lucky I got this picture taken.

A Break for Mommy and Daddy!

Chad and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary this May and the sweet husband he is surprised me with a trip to Kansas City to stay in a suite in the plaza. Nana, Papa, Uncle Derek and Aunt Tiff took Alex to Randolph for the weekend to watch him and brought him back just in time for his birthday party. Chad and I hung in the plaza and meet up with some of our great friend from KC. We even managed to sneak down to the new Power and Light District for a couple of drink. Alex and Mommy (or Mama, according to Alex) absolutely loved their nice time off during Christmas break. Daddy (aka Dada) was also lucky enough to take a whole week off of work too. We went to our friends Chad and Karolina's wedding, traveled to Grandma and Grandpa's Younkin's in Mullen, then on Christmas eve we drove to Nana and Papa's in Randolph. While in Randolph we enjoyed time with Uncle Derek who is finally residing in the states again, and his new fiance, Sarah. Also got to see Uncle Brian and Aunt Tiffany...we always enjoy spending so much time with the two of them. Alex also got to play around with his great-grandparents; Grandma Kruse and Grandma & Grandpa Hoesing.

Alex sayin "cheese" (which is what he does when he knows he is getting his picture taken!) He was lovin' the "real phone" at Gma & Gpa Younkin's house. Sadly, I realized that we didn't get any pictures with Don and MJ. I guess they are going to have to visit soon so we can get some pictures with them!

Christmas morning at Nana & Papa's house with Uncle Derek, Sarah, Aunt Tiff. Uncle Brian was unavaliable because he was tending to the cows (becuase they need love on Christmas too!)

Nana teaching Alex how to play piano!

We came back to Omaha only to have no kitchen sink for eight days. First our pipes were clogged and luckly Papa was here to help fix that. We were able to get new kitchen counter tops and since Papa was here, he help Chad take out our old ones, so then our kitchen sink lived on the floor for four days. Finally we are back to normal ...well as normal as we can get!
Alex was playing Mr. Fix it after watching his Daddy and Papa fix our plumbing and re-installing the sink! Alex is now pretty handy with the wrench. (Good thing Aunt Tiff and Unlce B bought Alex his own tool set, so he can 'safely' fix everything around the house!)

Surprise! One day when Maria's friends Angie and Lacey were over, Mommy wasn't paying the closest attention to Alex and he kind of got into her make-up. There is lip stick all over his shirt and the side of his face!

Alex and Maria enjoyed a little play date over break at the Ernst home. The kiddos thought they all needed to play in only their diapers. I know we have really been slacking, but time has just flown! Our little Alex is already 13 months old!

On May 25th we celebrated "Al Pal's" (Daddy's newest nickname) 1st birthday. It was a blast and Alex was spoiled rotten. It was just a small party with our clostest family and friends, and it was so much fun.

This summer Mommy and Alex get to hang out all day together. Mommy already says she is going to cry her eyes out when she has to go back to school in August. The two of us will be traveling to Mullen at the end of the month to see Grandpa Don, Grandma Jane and Uncle Steve, Aunt Crystal, Brady, Luke and Alex will meet for the first time Uncle Kevin, Aunt Becky, Braden and Logan. We can't wiat. Look for those pictures to come. Enjoy the photos from Alex so far in 2008!

Alex learning to eat with a fork. At the beginning of '07 there was only two of us. And now at the end of '07 we are very proud to be a family of three! It is so hard to believe that when we woke up on Christmas morning our Alex Matthew was 7 months old. He is doing so many fun things right now. He is sitting up on his own, crawling all over and getting into EVERYTHING!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, traveling all over the state of Nebraska in order for Alex to spend the holiday with both sets of his grandparents. The trip to Mullen from Omaha was a very long one, with Alex not wanting to be in his car seat for at least 80% of the trip. It taught us how to truly "block out the crying."

We finally did make it to Mullen after being the in car for 6 1/2 hours and only stopping 4 times! But it was worth it. Alex loves being around Grandpa Don and Grandma Jane. Alex would only give kisses to Gpa Don and Alex loved receiving kisses from him as well. Gma Jane loved to pamper him...lets just say that Alex was given the royal treatment in the Sandhills.

While in Mullen, Alex was able to see his Great-Grandma Elva again. This was the second time the two have been able to see each other. Grandma Elva will turn, 99 the end of January. Alex did not get his picture taken with her this time, as she was already laying down getting ready for her mid-morning nap.

On Christmas Eve morning, we loaded A-Man back up in his favorite car seat and headed to Nana and PopPop's in Randolph. He did much better this trip as he was able to sleep most of the time. Mommy and Daddy did have an experience as we stopped at a small town gas station to change a diaper. We went in and first of all there was only 1 uni-sex restroom. To our "city-thinking" surprise, there was no diaper changing station in the restroom. Mom held Alex in the air while Dad attempted to put a diaper on and get him dressed again. It was a success, but may have been the longest diaper change of Alex's life!

When we arrived in Randolph the whole family was waiting anxiously to play with Mr. Alex; Nana, PopPop, Uncle Derek (who made it safely home for break from Dominica!), Aunt Tiffs and Uncle B. We spent time at Great-Grandma and Grandpa Hoesing for Christmas Eve Dinner. So much of the family was there. After that Alex made his first appearance at Midnight Mass. Mommy had to stay home because she got sick, but Daddy said he did great and loved the sight of the church and especially the choir!

Baby's First Christmas!! It was finally Christmas morning. Alex was all decked out in his Santa suit that Grandma Jane bought him. By the time Alex got to his last present he was finally in the hang of how to open them! In the picture to the left, Alex is playing with his new John Deere Tractor PopPop of course had to get him! We had Christmas dinner with Uncle Brian's family - the Ebberson's. It was a delicious Prime Rib meal with all the trimmings. We are so blessed to have such a big, wonderful family! Big A was spoiled rotten by everyone in Randolph, it all barely fit in our Escape on the way back home to Omaha!

We are now home in Omaha, and Mommy is enjoying her time with her 'Lil Al' before she has to go back to school and while Daddy and the rest of his family get ready to go skiing in Colorado.

We are so blessed with all the gifts we have received in our life and especially in 2007. We can only image the wonderful blessings to come in 2008, and wish you all the same.

Take care and come visit us! God Bless each and everyone of you!

The Kruse's

Chad, Maria & Alex

Please check out our slideshow of pictures below. I've been wanting to get this started for just about 4 months now. (That's how old Alex is...) Our friends, the Chalmers, introduced us to this site. They've been using it for a while now. You don't realize how long it has been since we've seen each other until you get an email that reminds you of it! So, now that Alex Matthew is here in the flesh, we've decided to try and keep in touch with all of you that we care for and are thankful for having in our lives.

I'm sure through some avenue or another you all know about Mr. Alex. His birthday is May 25th. That makes him just shy of 4 months old. He is an amazing kid! Baby is probably a closer term, but the boy is very strong and his little personality is already showing. His family spoils him greatly and he doesn't lack any loving that is for sure.

Alex was brought right into the craziness that is the Kruse way of life. Always on the go and always something to do!

We traveled to Mullen to visit with Grandpa Don and Grandma Jane.

We went to Randolph to be with Aunt Tiffy for her wedding. (Because he hasn't perfected walking just yet he was named "honorary" ring bearer!)

We went to the lake with our friends the Faltys.

We even experienced camping with Nana, Papa, Uncle D, Aunt Tiff and Uncle Brian.

Now that the greatest time of year has started, it includes Husker Football. Alex experienced his first Husker Saturday a couple weeks ago. The big red was in Lincoln for the first game of the season against Nevada. He was pretty excited! (His dad was too.)

And that was only a few highlights of the summer activities! As I mentioned, we're entering our favorite time of year. (At least it's Chad's) There'll be pumpkins and falling leaves. It means cool, crisp football weather. Maybe even a touch of frost!

Here is a collage of pictures over the past few months. Enjoy!

Click to play Make your own Smilebox

Well, I think we'll sign off and close this blog as the first of many to come.
